Research Blog #9: Argument and Counter-Argument

My argument about technology is how it is beneficial to education and young people as a whole. In todays day and age, it is almost impossible to encounter some sort of technology throughout a single day, therefore it should be incorporated to a major component of our lives, education. Through the use of technology integration into education, both students and educators can live a more proficient and organized lifestyle.
On the other hand, "Education has a well-established trend toward non-adoption of new technologies"(Roblyer). In this article, the author describes how there is absolutely no benefit in the integration of technology into schools and universities, and that it is absolutely not necessary in order to forward and benefit the students of today. Along the same lines, this article depicts how if technology is not used correctly, such as constantly going on social networking or other sources of entertainment, students can become off task and no longer are focused on their education. This article is similar to the article, "Is Google Making Us Stupid?" by Nicolas Carr on the debate whether or not the internet and technology as a whole is ruining our lives.
Overall, in order for technology to benefit the college students of today, it is necessary that it is handled with care. Although if it is not handled correctly, it may inhibit some students, but the benefits are greater than the risks itself.
